Growing up in an orphanage, you can imagine that these children live on a severe shortage of love and positive attention. There were a few of the girls at the camp who, by their actions and the way they dressed, seemed to be silently pleading, “Look at me! Love me!”

One of these girls was Katya. She seemed to pick a few of the male staff and try to get their attention throughout the day. She would talk coaxingly and touch softly. One of the kitchen helpers actually told her not to touch him, but that didn’t dissuade her from calling his name and following him around like a little puppy.
During one of the daylong wilderness games Jason met Katya and was able to have a brief conversation with her. Later on in the day, she made her way alongside Jason, reached out and took a hold of his hand. Jason wasn’t quite sure what to do; he didn’t want to hurt her, but he didn’t want to hold her hand either. So he gently squeezed her hand and let go.
Please pray that Katya would be able to see beyond the kindness of the believers at the camp to the Source of their love. Also be in prayer for other girls like Katya, that they would find the love and security they seek in Christ.
