The Second Update on Rachel's Health

Well, praise the Lord! Rachel has had 2 really good days this past week and we are very encouraged that she seems to be recovering, even if it is very slowly.  Wednesday she went back to see the neurologist here to show her the x-rays of her neck and give her the diagnosis of our neurologist friend in the States.

When the neurologist saw the x-rays, she said that they confirmed her diagnosis. Then she examined Rachel and was amazed at how much better she was without having taken any of her prescribed medications.  She thought for sure that Rachel had taken them, and couldn't figure out how she was getting better without them. (We know how!)  The lady who translated for Rachel said the doctor was also amazed that she hadn't taken the medication in the first place because, "Russians always obey."

When Rachel told her that our neurologist friend in the States thinks she had meningitis, she actually laughed and said, "That's not possible."  She said Rachel was born with this problem and the car accident that she had 6 years ago just made it worse.  Then she told her that if she took the medication for one month it would make it all better!

She wasn't happy that Rachel hadn't seen the gynecologist or gotten a chest x-ray.  She said that these things were mandatory for Rachel to complete before she could fully treat the neck problem.  We are at peace with not going forward with these steps.  So we are planning on continuing to just trust the Lord and wait it out, as our neurologist friend in the States has suggested.  Right now, she seems to be improving slowly, so we are grateful for that.

Well, thanks for all your prayers.  We hope you all have a blessed Christmas!
