Well, last night we heard from the Pauls in Russia. They've finally received our documents for the letters of invitation. They delivered them to the international department at the university right away. Usually, they said, it takes 30 days to process the invitations, but ours have to be signed by the president of the university, and she’s not in until next week. So they gave us an estimate of 6 weeks. And then we have to wait for them to to be sent back to the US.... All of this waiting on paperwork is so stressful!
This week Rachel finished reading God’s Smuggler, by Brother Andrew. He talks about learning to rely on God, and not his own craftiness to get things done. It seems that this is a lesson we are going to learn during this move to Russia (and probably after that too). If we get there, it will be because God wants it and not because of anything we did! After all, we’re doing His work, not our own, and so we should be relying on him, not ourselves.
It’s hard to let go and rest in his hands, but it’s so much less stressful when we do!
